Synopsis
God has abandoned the world leaving humans unable to reproduce or to properly die without the assistance of special beings called gravekeepers. Ai, a young gravekeeper who is seemingly the last child in existence, acts as gravekeeper in a village where her now deceased mother was the gravekeeper before her. She lives a somewhat peaceful life among the villagers who respect and care for her until a man bearing an unusual name arrives to slaughter them all and force Ai to leave behind her once simple and peaceful existence.
