Oddly enough out of all the main characters, Maka is the most normal and civilized. She met Soul playing the piano, the demon weapon played a very creepy and dark melody on the instrument for her. She liked the song, and thought that he was very interesting. She eventually began trusting him, the first boy that she's ever trusted.
Black☆Star is one of the very few survivors of the infamous Star Clan. His partner and demon weapon is Tsubaki Nakatsukasa. He is currently a two-star Shadow Weapon Meister and is a member of the elite student unit Spartoi.
Death the Kid, called Kid by friends/family, he is the son of Lord Death and a grim reaper. The three white lines on the left side of his hair are his Lines of Sanzu. With his two demon guns Liz and Patty, Kid hunts evil human souls that have become kishin eggs. Kid is a shinigami in training.
Soul is Maka Albarn's Scythe partner. He's also a member of Spartoi. He was given the title "The Last Death Scythe" after having a battle with Asura.
Ox is a very serious Spear Meister and a student at Shibusen where he receives top grades for his academic achievements. He is also a Two-Star Meister and member of the elite student unit, Spartoi. He loves to study and would rather take his time thinking of solutions to a problem then irrationally beating it down with the nearest stick.
Anya comes from a very rich background, and recently transferred to DWMA to see what common people where like. She used to live in a castle and lived a very strict and restricted life, desiring freedom she left the castle to explore how her new found freedom.
Hiro is a student that is regarded as an incompetent meiser. This classification has basically segregated him from the rest of the school.
Kim is always partnered with Jacqueline and is a lamp meister. She fled, fearing persecution, when everyone in her world found out she was a witch. When she came back to Shibusen she became a Two-Star Meister and a member of the elite Shibusen Student Unit, Spartoi.
Kirikou uses a pair of twins as his weapons, known as a Pot of Fire and a Pot of Thunder. Although his weapons are referred to as pots they infact resemble huge gauntlets in their weapon form. Kirikou is a Pot Meister and often teams up with Ox Ford.
