Mello works in the mafia to catch Kira, but his intentions are also to beat Near and show that he is better than him. He is never seen eating anything else but chocolate.

Near is L's successor and with the SPK (Special Provision for Kira) works to find Kira and catch him.

Light is hardworking, talented, and a natural genius. Light can predict all of the possible scenarios that could happen and plan a solution in advance. His faults are his sociopathic interior, caused by the Death Note, and his overconfidence in himself that he is never wrong. Believing the world is rotten, he uses his Death Note to cleanse the world of evil people. Light's wants to create a new world that is free of injustice that only has honest and kind people. Then, he will become the "God of the New World". Light quickly begins to develop a malevolent nature. He becomes completely devoid of love, compassion and mercy. He views himself as the rightful savior of mankind and that all his actions are justified. Light is constantly trying to evade the suspicion of L and other detectives while keeping his identity as "Kira”, and cleansing the world of crime. The fact that he’s intelligent also adds to his idea that he's the one fit judge humanity.
