Synopsis
Ayakashi are unusual, otherworldly beings that most people are unable to see. Some ayakashi attack humans in order to consume their life force, but the majority are harmless. People are to be protected from these vengeful ghosts by exorcist ninjas. Young Matsuri Kazamaki is an exorcist ninja from a distinguished clan. Suzu Kanade, his childhood friend, is an ayakashi medium, a person who exudes tremendous vitality and draws ayakashi. Suzu wants to be near them, but Matsuri thinks all ayakashi are dangerous and wants to keep Suzu as far away from them as possible. The two meet Shirogane, the "King of Ayakashi," one day, who is determined to devour Suzu. Before Matsuri can seal the ayakashi's powers and save her from being consumed, Shirogane exacts retribution by transforming him into a girl! Matsuri must battle off angry ayakashi and get used to his strange new lifestyle until he discovers a means to change back into his former self. Suzu's feelings for Matsuri are mixed at this point.
