Synopsis
This particular story is set in the distant future. The land is completely ruined and humanity was forced to establish mobile fort plantation cities. Pilots produced inside of the plantations live in Mistilteinn, which is also known as "the bird cage". The pilots, or children rather, know nothing of the outside world or the freedom of the sky. Their lives are nothing but constant training, carrying out orders, or battling. The enemies that they are forced to face are a mysterious giant lifeforms known as the Kyouryuu, and the children pilot giant robots named FranXX to defeat them. For the children, riding a FranXX proves their existence. There is a boy code named 016 or Hiro as he likes to be called, and he was once a prodigy. However he has fallen behind, and he feels like his existence is unnecessary. One day a mysterious girl known as Zero Two appears before him. She has two red horns growing out of her head.
