Synopsis
Otaku and Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) officer Youji Itami is traveling to Ginza, for a doujin conference when he notices a weird portal in the shape of a massive gate. It opens, unleashing warriors wearing medieval armor and otherworldly creatures that charge through it, destroying and killing everything in their path. While the rest of the JSDF focuses their efforts on halting the invasion, Youji acts quickly to save as many lives as he can. As part of a JSDF task force, Youji was assigned to lead a special recon team three months after the attack, and they were to be transported to the world beyond the gate, now known as the "Special Region." In order to understand more about what they are dealing with; they must venture into this foreign land and strive to befriend the local community in the hopes of forging amicable relations with the governing empire. But if they don't succeed, they will have to take part in a terrible conflict that will consume both sides of the gate.
