Synopsis
In the Ars universe, people have been fighting against enormous beasts that devastate the countryside and eat its resources for many years. They are opposed by champions known as nagimori, who use the destructive force of kannagi: creatures endowed with untamed magical abilities. Jiiro, a former nagimori who has lost his combat companion, encounters Kuumi, a young woman who has recently discovered her magical abilities. Jiiro finds out that Kuumi has left a laboratory and is being sought by Mezami, the leader of the research facility, after the two make a contract to defend the city against a gigantic beast onslaught. Jiiro reluctantly agrees to assist Kuumi in escaping her pursuers and sets out on their journey with the young girl Myaa, who is Kuumi's buddy, and their new companion. Top authorities start putting their plans into motion as the unusual trio is exploring the Arsian territories, and the band of explorers quickly learns that mankind are to be dreaded more than monsters.
