Synopsis
Japan has been devastated by a catastrophic event that has left nothing but unending sand plains, and the last of civilization is being terrorized by a mysterious rusting sickness. The awful state of the new world, according to the authorities, is the consequence of mushroom spores being disseminated by individuals like Bisco Akaboshi, known as the "Man-Eating Mushroom." To the contrary, Bisco would argue. He is actually a "Mushroom Protector," on a mission to find the fabled "Sabikui" mushroom, which is rumored to be the only treatment for the rusting sickness. His enormous crab Akutagawa and the gentle doctor Milo Nekoyanagi, who is actively looking for a rust poisoning cure for his sick sister, accompany him on his journey. Despite the hostility he encounters from the general populace, Bisco persists in his mission to clean up the corrupt globe.
