I had a suuuuper amazing birthday cuz my wonderful boyfriend decided to surprise me with all my friends AAANNNDDD WestNyorai drove three hours to see me!! Ahhh I feel so loved!

I spent the evening singing karaoke with friends and laughing the entire time lol.

Icing on the cake? DamDirtyApe had a surprise waiting for me when I got a home! A gifted access to the game Starbound that I'm excited to play!

With ARTaku nearly here I figured I'd share a few helpful links with you all to help your creative genius!

TheAwsome recently sent me a message with concerns about being able to create an entry for the contest since he does not own an editing program that would allow him to do so. Therefore I found a few free alternatives for those of you without access to an editing program or the funds to purchase one.

download.cnet.com offers a wide variety of software for both PC and Mac. Some are free, some need to be purchased, and some allow free trials. I know for certain that there are free trials of Adobe products such as Photoshop, and all software on this site has been scanned and approved as virus free! Go check it out!

gimp.org is a free alternative to Photoshop and has a couple cool features.

pixlr.com is an online photo editor (though please keep in mind that not all images found on the internet are open sourced for the public and altering them may lead to copyright issues so avoid using images you do not have the rights to).

If I come across anything else that could be useful to you guys I'll be sure to let you know! Thanks for bringing this to our attention Awsome.

We're looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with!

I take it everyone's seen the full details for ARTaku in the Site Updates section of the site by now. If not, move your lazy cursor over this link and click! It's for your own good!

And did you guys see the details for the main event?! Be still my beating heart! Ahhhh so exciting!!

If you've seen ~Webmaster's post you know by now that the only slight hiccup in our plans is that we can't think of a really cool, funky-unique name for our summer giveaway...cuz we're lame...and honestly ARTaku tapped all of our creative genius. :c

But that's what we have you guys for right? This site was built on the idea of furthering user interaction and that's exactly what we need you guys to do right now! So head over to this thread and post some ideas about what our event should be titled!

What? You need more incentive? Well...here it is! The user who comes up with the best title will not only have the honor of saying they named our event, but they'll also be awarded the very first raffle ticket for the event courtesy of yours truly! (The raffle ticket will of course be rewarded to the chosen user at the start of the event.)

That's right...name our event, get a raffle ticket. Ohhhh yeeaaa.

It'd be great if the title you came up with could include the word "giveaway" and/or "summer" but we're not too picky. Just come up with something that sounds fun and interesting (Of course I don't need to tell you guys that it has to be appropriate for users of all ages etc. etc.) and if we like it we'll slap it on this grand daddy of an event. Sound good?

Everyone's doing well, yea? No monkeys in your closets, right? Good good...all is well then. Here's a little more info about ARTaku for ya!

Before reading the info below I suggest everyone go back and re-read the first blog post titled Insider Alert! because there have been some changes made to the contest.

After much intense thought, we've decided on the prizes for ARTaku! But before we get to that I just want you guys to know that we know how hard you guys will work on any artwork you present to us so we want to be able to show our appreciation for anyone who participates in the contest. It takes courage to offer up your art to the criticism of others and we thank you in advance for any and all entries! Now on to the prizes!

****ALL participants of ARTaku will receive a special achievement award that will be given ONLY to those who submitted an entry to ARTaku. This achievement will appear on your profile where you can show it off to the rest of the site. No other users will have access to this achievement and it will forever label you as an "ARTaku Participant"

***The 3rd Place Contestant of ARTaku will have a special achievement award crafted JUST for them and will forever label them as "ARTaku's Bronze Finisher"

**Our 2nd Place Contestant will enjoy their name in lights as we feature their artwork on the site! A special achievement will also be awarded to label them as "ARTaku's Silver Lining"

*And last but certainly not least, the 1st Place Contestant will enjoy the view from the top with a bottle of champagne their label as "ARTaku's Golden Glory," AND the grand prize of having their artwork used in a new site advertisement!

(However, in the event that none of the entries are suitable or appropriate for use in a new ad, our first place winner will instead be awarded the honor of having an achievement created in their very own name! The new achievement will be named after the user selected as the grand prize winner. Can you imagine everyone seeing YOUR username pop up when they complete an achievement?!)
