sage-mode Naruto

Every single ninja has a nindo. A nindo is a way of life; a motto to live by. It is the fuel that keeps them going in their hardknock of a world. Their nindo is the embodiment of the major turning point(s) in their life, and it is what makes them who they are today. Since this is the first blog post, I thought I should start things off talking about none other than the number-one-hyperactive-knuckleheaded ninja; our one and only Naruto Uzumaki!

Since the very first episode of the first series Naruto, we know that Naruto grew up without a family. He was rejected by his peers because he was a jinchuriki. School was particularly hard for him because he did not grasp jutsus as quickly as his classmates, so he was mocked by them. His classmates labeled him a failure and a loser, while their parents forbid them to play with him. So, Naruto’s childhood was not an easy one. This is quite sad when you think about it, because every child deserves a chance at a happy childhood. These early years are the ones that will shape us the most. Even though he found himself alone, Naruto chose to rise up: he made a conscious decision to become the best ninja he can become, the best shinobi his village has ever seen, so people would have to respect him. Naruto’s ultimate goal is to become Hokage, the highest ranked ninja in the Hidden Leaf village.

“I'm not going to run away and I never go back on my word that's my Nindo, my Ninja Way!”

We see, as early as the chunin exams, the determination in his eyes. In every training we witness his trials and errors, and what I mostly appreciate during these sort of episodes are the ways in which he comes up with clever ways of improving (e.g. using multiple shadow clones for faster progress). Through his successes we learn to never give up—and that’s what I love most about this character: he never gives up. In life, it’s one thing to have dreams, but it’s another thing to actually make them your goals and work hard towards them. It is just so easy for us to give up, or to not even try to make our dreams a reality. But Naruto shows us that success is not a straight linear path to the top, but an organic one with many trials and errors along the way. I think we can all learn a lot from him.

Naruto definitely started out as a ninja without much skill, but today, he’s not even Hokage yet he’s hella powerful! Plus, he even inspired Hinata (early on in the first series) to adopt the same nindo [kawaii desu ne]!

I absolutely love Mr.Uzumaki’s ninja way, but I admit Sakura’s nindo is my fave. I’ll talk about her soon, but now I want to hear from you: which character’s nindo is your favorite?
