Hi! Yes it's a comedy anime as in every three to five minutes.the last episodes get more serious though.

Sounds like a comedy anime, but the better question is how much comedy did the anime had? like was it comedy it would occasionally have a joke or comedy where it happens like every 4-5 minutes?

I heard about this Anime early on when they showed "leaked" images and it gave me the thought that it's on those Anime. But from what you said it seems quirky and fun. I'll give it a another chance I never gave it in the first place.

Space Dandy,huh? I don't know what to think about this anime..But,hey! I watched the 1st episode last sunday and the replay last night. And to my disappointment,I fell asleep after the 1st half AGAIN ! >_< haixt... Too tired to watch anime late at night. Wish there were replays again. :3

I'm looking forward to Space Dandy and Tonari no Seki-Kun: The Master of Killing Time. Other than that, this season of anime looks bland to me. Of course I have too much of a high expectations >.>. Although that is now a new years resolution of mine to lower my expectations so that I don't feel sad every year about the animes released.

I just finished watching the first episode of Space Dandy. It is simple hilarious....and grooovy. Look at that animation and color. I enjoyed the whole episode thoroughly the characters are very funny. Also I love the idea of a person hunting aliens.

Wow, thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. Perhaps you've become slightly more aware of gender classification & the like, possibly after having read this? And I agree that kids' sitcoms, especially Disney sitcoms these days, are so stupid and teach kids nothing valuable. I remember the last time I saw an episode of Shake it Up & A.N.T. Farm in the summer, and it was so ridiculously dumb my brain felt mostly fried.

Television is very good at influencing kids to behave certain ways. Today I think television is dividing the genders apart at an even earlier age. From shows like "Shake it Up" teaching girls to act a like spoiled and like what the characters like. And shows like "Regular Show" teaching boys well nothing but to act silly and gain odd habits. I can say "Regular Show" is a fun to watch but not at young ages. I'm not being hypocritical as I see the effects of it on my younger siblings.

Today I went to the store with my mother to get character themed wrapping paper and like in Nyo's case it was divided between genders. Today the two largest influences on kids are their parents and television. It is all about what morals and ethics the parents teach their children that will make them grow. And as for the parents of my generation I would say they are not that good as the one that came before. And as for television....

It didn't help tonight when I went to the store tonight and saw the toy aisle split into a boys and girl section. Was looking for a gender neutral gift for an office party but there was nothing. Saddest part this is common practice everywhere. I don't mind having boyish and girlish toys, but at least have some unisex items mixed in. Seems like it would be smart marketing to appeal to a broad demographic.

Then the next generation of adults will know what values are important to have about equality and spread that culture to other people. Ideally, we need as a people to think more in the long term of things to change as well rather than always thinking about how to have a short term investment that way we can help the future generations.

We can all agree here that equality needs to happen; although I will say that equality issue lies at the feet of the current culture of major populations. Therefore, to have a new impact or issues to be solved a culture shift needs to happens to change everyone's views. Otherwise, the current views will remain because the culture has not changed. Likewise for real change to happen, you must teach kids the views that are important through example rather than conversations.

I understand that many feminists nit-pick & go as far as degrading other women & I've read a good portion of articles written by those women. But I believe that stereotypes about feminists, which are all negative, are based on the first/second wave movements, which to me seemed like very angry movements. Many young feminists today aren't those stereotypes. And I found that not everybody stands for the same issues, so I'd like for everybody to drop their preconceived notions of feminists.

With feminism, it's a bit more complex. I'm for equality, but many of the feminist movements go far beyond equality to the point of being degrading and further segregating females. Which is why feminist are often looked down upon. I'm more for sex and gender rights. If you want to wear a skirt, pants, or w/e you should go for. Be gay, straight, bi, or transgender it's your choice. But don't confuse power with equality. An imbalance of power is a symptom of inequality but not the problem.

I think celebrating part of a culture is fine. It just depends on the reason behind it. In the black history month example, it's because black history month is often seen as a way to promote equality more so than a celebration. As a result it segregates the community. But celebrating Christmas or Chanukah is intended to celebrate culture and history without having the purpose of promoting equality. MLK day is the same since it promotes the accomplishments of the past and spreading the message.

create these holidays or social groups are not to make things exclusive. They just want to acknowledge a piece of culture that is generally not. And often times, they state that their communities are open to everyone. I think their error usually is give their group a name that makes them seem exclusive. You know what I mean? like 'geek girl club' or something. Anyway, I'm totally rambling. I'm just in deep thought right now. :)

I do have to say, at the same time, it is also necessary to talk about discrimination because someone might be discriminating someone and they don't even know it. But I guess it's like you said, while we're doing so, we have to be careful not to divide each other. And I wonder if celebrating a part of a culture or history that is generally not acknowledged as much is truly segregation, like Mr.Freeman intended to say? Because the intentions of those who...

I'll agree with Morgan Freeman's view of "stop talking about it." Until the day we are able to talk to each other as people and not define ourselves by race, sex, gender, or religion the best we can do is to simply not use those terms that define each other. At the same time we must do everything we can to protect those segregated against prejudice or stereotypes. And yes, talking about it in blogs like this is very important to reaching this goal. We just have to unify and not divide.

You're writing skills are great. As far as improving yourself? The one downside of writing is it requires just as much studying as practice. Myself, I struggle with grammar at times so I'm constantly looking things up. Don't worry about taking some time off. You'll just come back more refreshed. On the plus side we're slowly getting more active users. :D So when you do come back in full you'll hopefully get a slight increase in readers.

I agree with Complex's advice on writing; "To each, their own" you know? Writing should not be seen as a profession, it should be seen as an art form and whatever people do with it is what makes it unique. You van classify main ideas, points, and focuses of writing but you can't classify a writer's true style.

Thanks everyone. The symptoms are this: the screen remains black, even after I restart it. My battery is bad anyway and I'm due for another one. I think on second thought I'll just buy another battery. It only took me two days to find out that my idea to buy a new laptop is a crazy one, because I just don't have the means for that right now. Anime, Manga, and Video games are considered escapism hobbies in my mind because these are entertainment and not needed at all. The good thing about these hobbies is that makes most of us feel happy when doing them. I always wondered about the whiskers. Just assumed they were some quirk the mangaka had.

The samurai? They're introduced in the war arc season 12, which is currently going on right now. In Naruto, they don't stray away from the true & origin nature of a samurai. They live in a secluded land, I think the land of Iron, where they act as military to that land. They don't live the same paths as ninjas because samurai are more peaceful and have their own way of life. They are aiding in the war though. Unlike shinobi, they just use swords & armor, but can manipulate chakra to some degree.

Could do you me a favor and answer me this, what are the samurai in naruto's world? I don't recall the books or the anime ever mentioning them to a great extent or are they meant to be phantoms?

As a tech enthusiast this anime sounds more and more interesting to me. Especially the art-style seem to present to me an interesting world. Hopefully that will be the case when I get around to watching it. I think at a certain point we would indeed be leaning towards that social norm, Nyorai. Hopefully it will be the starting point of people caring more about things in real life rather than letting people know on the internet.

The GALAX thing reminds me a lot of Summer Wars except for Crowds deals more with it being used to revolutionize the world. I love how the series takes place in a time when society has become strongly molded by social networks and government infrastructure is slowly loosing fading away. It'd be interesting to see a world one day where people could live without a governing body and work together through social networks.

Awsome: The abuse on others isn't our focus here. I've got an interest in the pressures I have to deal with as a young lady put on by my peers, my family and the media. It isn't everyone who realizes maybe everything that's been fed to them should be reconsidered & questioned, in fact most people are sheep. That's why it's worth talking about certain topics, so maybe you can help change their perspective. Also, I don't believe all people and animals are exploited, and it's different from abuse.

WN: I can see that happening in the future, because roles are starting to be reversed now. I'm seeing in media that more men are being shown to be either single fathers, or stay-at-home dads. For example in this show I really love, Doc McStuffins, her mother is a doctor and is rarely ever seen, but her dad is in almost every episode and he stays at home to take care of her and her brother.

I can't say anything to contradict this because it simple is all true. But to say society brings down woman is a little bit of an understatement in reality all woman can be what they want to be and just ignore what society says and not listen. Also society exploits all people not just woman but man as well. Even canines get this abuse like pitbulls.

I can't debate that most guys would feel intimidated. I think a lot is more gender neutral than most think. Both members of a relationship need to feel a sense of worth. It used to be that worth for women came from domestic skills and men from work and labor skills. So when a woman masters those skills it can be a bit intimidating for a guy unless they are able to find worth some other way. I bet in 100 years the roles will still exist in some way but they won't be decided by gender.

And you're right, once a strong female gets a boyfriend she's suddenly lost self-reliance and is always saved by her man. Pathetic!

Femme fatale are scary too. And they're objectified as sexual tools. But I feel there are enough strong females in comics/anime, etc personally. It's more like if she's going to have so much sex appeal, I'd just rather her express it through her strength as oppose to have it due to her looks. And for characters like her, I want to see their male counterparts attracted to who she is/how she handles herself.

I agree there are probably a need for more "strong" women in anime and manga. In this sense some of these women are portrayed as a femme fatale. However, sometimes the "strong" women need to be rescued. You see it in anime and manga where the woman appears strong at first until she gets a boyfriend then she needs to be saved all the time. Not that I agree with that stance. It is just simply stupid to make strong women weaker because you take away their character.

Gatchaman Crowds is one I was thinking of passing up because I didn't know anything about Gatchaman. However, the newer series stands alone so it's very easy to get into. And very original with brilliant characters. But you'll have to wait for Complex's blog post to hear more about that.

Waiting for the 2nd season of Kuroko Basketball. :D Coppelion also looks interesting. Pupa looks like it will bit hit or miss. It has an interesting plot but it may end up getting too technical and leave the characters behind.

Hmm, out of all of those I think I might pick up Yowamushi Pedal, Kill La Kill, and Ace of Diamond. I'm not sure about the rest. Although, I might watch Log Horizen but I don't have high expectations of the anime.

Well by stimuli I mean something big. Some horrible event that will force humans to come together as a one race and forget our divisions. Your right there are people willing to help nature and plenty of other people attacking nature. If we became one with nature we would stop are own development if we destroy it willy nilly we will die off most likely. Because my understanding is that of acting upon instinct before thinking, and I know to other people 'acting like an animal' sort of means either stupid or without self-control. Yeah, we act out of instinct sometimes, and the modern man create things without the thought of ethics usually, but...

Pollution & mass consumption came with modernism (modernism is all about mass consumption), and in the 3rd world is a result of colonialism & 1st world's neverending effect on those countries (slums, water sanitation, etc).But various organizations and people are trying to change better their eco habits, so in my opinion all we need is a change of heart, and the right leaders whom are willing to take care of this planet.

Fight for territory happens with all species, not just us. I have to disagree that we've only now become conscious of our natural environment, because I mentioned in my post that cultures outside western society, people whom are indigenous to their land, and also ancient cultures, have or have had an awareness of Nature and coexisted with it....

Even if another animal evolved to the point of human intelligence. They would behave like us as we developed similar to us spreading fast causing war for territory and mass consumption of resources. As human society took shape as we know it today it only now became conscious of it's surroundings. As a result of only understanding the damage we did so late in our evolution we won't change our ways without a stimulus that effects the human race. Don't forget we are animals and behave as such.

What do you mean "we are also advancing civilization to a point in which we'll be able to outlive the life of our planet"? Are you referring to researches about potentially living on Mars and China's project to build a facility on the Moon? Yeah, maybe if other animals had brains as developed as ours, they could potentially think of such things. But, I think they'd respect Nature's cycles and life spans, so each species, including themselves, would pass away when their time comes. =]

In many ways we're more dumb than animals but we are also advancing civilization to a point in which we'll be able to outlive the life of our planet so that the life Earth create can live on forever. It makes you wonder if other species would do the same if given the opportunity.

We've lost too many good mangaka in the past to suicide. Too often do people choose to keep depression, and other issues, to themselves without talking to anyone. It always makes you wonder what works they could have come up with next if they kept pushing forward. I'm reminded of Chiyomi Hashiguchi (Nekojiru).

This is another sad day. His work is now considered incomplete at least Amane Atatameru but I wonder if he was under stress for not wanting to do this kind of manga. I wouldn't know if this is true or not; however, if you want to sell manga, novels or anything similar you have to follow the trends. Otherwise it won't sell unless you are very confident in the manga. On a side note, this death reminds me of how I was sad about Takahiro Yamato's (author of Kaze no Stigma) death. This is truly sad.

Thanks for your point of view; it's true that they have stressful careers. Yes. Suicide isn't always due to loneliness, but what I meant was that there's always someone there for you to lean on and talk to. You don't have to go through it alone.

The job of being a Mangaka is very stress full. While we may enjoy their creations it was very stressful of them as they are always on a deadline. You could say they are forced in position there at a point because not meeting a deadline is very bad. They didn't commit suicide out of loneliness they did so as an escape from the stress they have to face to make a living. I do pay my respects.

It's good to see a series that accepts a character as GLBT without feeling they need to use it as a selling point. It just would have been nice if it had progression. I never was one to enjoy episodic plots. I'd be more interested in the publishing company. But for this series I'd probably have to pass.

I see, I did look him up. And I saw a review about the Pein arc which defends his style, and other animators that worked on that arc. His work is great, yeah. And the Pein battle was really great too over all, but it's hard to appreciate it fully because of how distorted it was sometimes. But I see he also worked on some other battles, like Kakuzu & Hidan vs. team 10, that was good! Also, I'm not too sure how to interpret the rinnegan at 7:36 anymore... maybe it was intended?

Wouldn't be surprised if they had Shingo Yamashita working on this episode like with the Pain fight which was highly controversial because of his style. I loved his animation with Birdy Decode. His work's incredible if you look it up.

I have to say I had a smirk on my face while reading this well done. I never though of that as fan-service but it actually is in a way. Over the top battle scenes are giving fans the service they like. It was nice how you placed everything since you got us in a common place and supported your words with examples.

This Anime was wonderful. It tapped a lot into aspects of what it is to be human and their interactions with others. Also we learn that both sides have points to their actions. SPOILER sort of. In the very last scene we see some Hideauze building a nest on what looks like "Chamber"! No really looks again.

This fan-service was not bad but random if any thing. Yes this definitively fan-service. But most Anime have them and I feel they didn't hurt the Anime overall. And when she danced for him pacifically I felt it was a good scene of character development between the two rather then ecchi. If anything the fan-service is random and out of place. Perhaps if it was used in way to portray comedy it would be fine as comic relief. Still if they could re-place some fan-service with cultural learning.

I really loved this series and wished it would have lasted long. Had a great run. And they can't kiss or else there would be no hope of a sequel!

Yes, when I looked at the chart earlier in the year, I saw that most titles were shojo, and was thus anticipating that this summer would be filled with that. That's why I think this summer is a bit of a snore fest.

So far my view list for the season is Servant x Service, il sole penetra le illusioni, Genshiken 2, and maybe Free & The Eccentric Family. This season really seems to be heavy on Shojo so far.

I may go ahead and see this after Paranoia Agent.

I love this post so much I had to comment. I'm also procrastinating on a project right now, but I sure hope this entry helps someone in some way, because I cannot stress how important it is to be a positive person. Nobody wants to be around a Negative Nancy that drains the life out of others because they hate everything & everyone, or a Debbie Downer who has such low self-esteem that they bring others down out of jealousy, while they bash on their own image and fish for compliments. ;]

It's really hard to find any good josei series out there due to the small audience. I've been keeping an eye out for one for a good while now and nothing seems to be popping up. You're normally stuck with manga sadly.

When I watch Anime I always look for some lesson in it unless it's a mindless comedy or what not. You can still watch romance anime like that but keep reality separate.

You already know that Anime can be a good or bad influence. It's your choice on what to watch right. But as you get older I suppose you will have to fade into adult-hood. But I think you shouldn't give up your older behaviors just add to it

It is a bit annoying, but it just manages to balance that line of annoying and intriguing to the point where you can really end up liking it.

I guess I would have to go with Nagareboshi-Shooting Star. Though I really prefer the first series openings. Maybe it's nostalgia but I really love the original opening the most. Had a nice 90s or 80s vibe to it.

Thought of this post after watching the last episode of The Severing Crime Edge and they had the most out of place boob bounce with the character Violet Witch. A completely normal scene where she walks up and stops and then... bounce.

The Anime should play to its strong points. Ecchi isn't one of them. An Anime can really dull out if just throws in ecchi such as this one example being "Guilty Crown".

Tenten's way under utilized. It seems most of the supporting characters besides Shikamaru were on the shelf. Ino definitely shined this arc.
